Year 3
reception

They also were counting the number of shapes and then put them with their number.
On the Smart board Mrs Carter showed them how to join the letters.
Mrs Carter had been drawing on her whiteboard trying to give the children an idea to win the robotic guinea pig. The guinea pig is a robotic pet which they could win and have it in your classroom for a few weeks and then they can take it home.
Year 2 Bee Bots

Year 4 in the Rainbow Room

They were working with Mrs Scott in the rainbow room. There was 3 groups and each working well. There pictures weren’t exactly perfect but they were good enough to go on the blog.

Lighting Deck in the Hall
How does she use ICT in her job? - She said: School emails, Electronic diary, Student data and writing letters.
What do you enjoy most? - She most enjoys student data because she likes looking back at all the students.
Her talent in ICT is all-round.
By Sophie, Megan, max and Gabriel.
5K and 5B have been going around the school, and have visited 3B. They have been intervening them and asking them questions about what they have been doing in ICT week. They have been studying stop animations and drawing animations on laptops. They have created some really good animations based on the book the hodgeheg. They were working brilliantly together! Every one cant wait to see their PowerPoint on Thursday evening!
Wednesday 14 November, what are year 1 doing today?
On the interactive white board year one were playing a game in which they had to add up the total amount of money to buy the toy that was on the board. Max and Harry said this game was really, really good.
Some other children were experimenting with the calculators, pressing random numbers seeing who got the biggest number while rubbing it on their head. Katie and Olivia said they loved it.
Meanwhile some girls were designing there robots for the competition that Mr. Hutchings proudly set up. They had some very good ideas, are they good enough to win?

An interview with Mrs Carter.

1. How did you become the I.C.T teacher?
A- It was the job I applied for when I came to Sheen Mount Primary School, and I had that job at my old school.
2. Why are we having an I.C.T week?
A- To raise the profile of I.C.T, and to get I.C.T to be used in the class, not just in the Hub.
3. What programme on the computer do you use the most?
A- To do with school I use a web page programme.
4. What I.C.T uses do you use at home?
A- I use a dishwasher, DVD player, C.D player, washing machine, microwave, car and phone.
5. Do you like teaching I.C.T?
A- Yes, but being I.C.T co-ordinate is very time consuming and can be confusing at times.

Tuesday 13th November
This morning year six were editing a program called flowol. They were trying to function a light house on the computer. They could control the lights, horn and light or dark to make sure the boats don't crash. Their task was on a document and it had some clues on it.
They had a picture of the lighthouse and they had the right co-ordinations to stop the boats from crashing. They were working very hard because we nearly couldn't interview them.

ICT focus week from year 5
Morning Challenge
Mrs Boa started off our I.C.T focus week with a morning challenge of thinking of as many items that use ICT as possible. Everyone got loads of answers, the most popular answers were ipods and phones.
Mr Kennedy's Maths Set
In Mr Kennedy's maths set we have been focusing on measuring. (litres and millilitres.) Mr Kennedy put up a grid on the smartboard all about litres and lillilitres, He showed us half of the grid and we had to fill in the rest of it. Most of us got it straight away but others needed a bit of help to get started. We all enjoy learning about capacity but tomorrow we will be moving onto area and perimeter.
Mrs Boa's Maths Set
In Mrs Boa's maths set we played co-ordinate bingo and were each given a sheet of paper with some co-ordinates on it and on the smart board co-coordinates came up every two seconds and the first person who had got five co-ordinates crossed off shouted bingo and won everyone really enjoyed it. Tomorrow we will carry on with co-ordinates but be moving on to a bigger grid which will be more challenging.
5B Science
Today we finished off our evaporation project from last week, it was about an experiment to see how temperature effects the speed of evaporation. A few people had already finished so moved on to a quiz on the smart board, the first group did exceptionally well getting a score of 15/20 on a quiz about states of matter but sadly the second group only got 5/20 on a quiz about solids. At the end of the lesson Mr Kennedy gave us an interactive quiz on solids as a class and we scored 20 out of 20!
Year 5 Music
In music year 5 Mrs Boa taught us how to play one of our assembly songs called Bonfire Toffee. We each had a part to learn and play on tuned percussion, and we used ICT playing keyboards, the melody which was played by Sean on the violin and William, Kathryn and Holly who played it on the recorder and by Finton and Hebe in 5B. Its sounds great!
Year 5 Literacy
We started to learn how to change a boring piece of writing into an interesting piece of work. Mr Kennedy and Mrs Boa put the boring piece of writing on the interactive white boards in their classrooms for us all to see. The writing had words in it like "then there was a knock on the door I felt a bit scared." Then we turned it into something like this: "A few moments later there was a horrifying bang on the cob webbed door, terrifying me!"
Year 5 Humanities
Mr Kennedy and Mrs Boa will be showing us on the internet all about Vikings and how they lived. They use a site called Espresso which has videos about Vikings and gives us information.
